(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln, along
with U.S. Representatives Marion Berry (D-1), John Boozman (R-3) and Mike
Ross (D-4) announced $2,124,800 in grants to the Arkansas State Highway
and Transportation Department.
The grants will be used to purchase vehicles for small urban and rural
transit providers across Arkansas. This funding was a result of Fiscal
Year 2003.
· Fort Smith Transit, Fort Smith, AR - $336,000
o For the purchase of new and replacement transit buses with handicap
lifts
· Ozark Regional Transit, Springdale, AR - $144,000
o For the purchase of replacement transit buses and vans with handicap
lifts
· South Central Arkansas Transit, Malvern, AR - $364,000
o For the purchase of replacement transit buses and vans with handicap
lifts, support vehicles, sedans/station wagons, and replacement vans without
handicap lifts
· Southeast Arkansas Transit, Pine Bluff, AR - $456,000
o For the purchase of sedans/station wagons, and replacement vans with
and without handicap lifts
· Mid-Delta Transit, Helena, AR - $63,200
o For the purchase of replacement vans with and without handicap lifts
· North Arkansas Transit Service, Harrison, AR - $120,000
o For the purchase of replacement vans with and without handicap lifts
· Black River Area Development, Pocahontas, AR - $80,000
o For the purchase of replacement transit buses with handicap lifts
· City of Hot Spring, Hot Springs, AR - $313,600
o For the purchase of transit buses with handicap lifts
