I hope this information will ensure that your visit to Washington is an enjoyable one. This list of sites in and around Washington is an excellent list to print and bring with you on your trip. Please feel free to come by my office for a visit while you're in town. If you'd like to schedule an appointment, please call (202) 225-5211.

My Washington D.C. office maintains tickets for some of the places listed below. However, tickets are limited and are given on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call (202) 225-5211 to schedule tours. Several of these sites also distribute public tickets. In addition to the many wonderful exhibits in Washington, my office can also assist with tickets to Kennedy Space Center in Florida for constituent groups of no more than 7 people. Please call my office for details.

Metro Map - the public transportation system of the Washington area. Exit at the Capitol South Station for Capitol Hill.

Bureau of Printing and Engraving:
Visitors enter at 14th and C Street,SW. Visitors will see how U.S. currency is printed. Tours are every day except for Saturday and Sunday.

Department of the Interior Monuments Tour:
This is a guided tour of the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Ford's Theatre, FDR Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial, and Arlington Cemetery. Tours are given every day except Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.

Holocaust Memorial Museum:
Raoul Wallenberg Place, SW. Advance tickets are recommended. A limited number of free, same day tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis from the Box Office on the 14th Streetside of the Museum, open at 9:00 AM.

House of Representatives and Senate Gallery Passes:
These are passes for visitors who want to see the House and Senate Galleries while touring the Capitol building. These passes can be picked up in Congressman Nathan Deal's Office in Washington, DC

Library of Congress:
First Street and Independence Ave., SE. Visitors should meet in the James Madison Memorial Building. Tours are given every day except Saturday and Sunday.

Mount Vernon:
Home of George Washington. Tickets are maintained by my office from April through October. Open to the public daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM from March through October. 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM from November through February. Admission: Adults $11.00, Children ages 6 to 11 $5.00, Children 6 & under free, Senior Citizens $10.50.

State Department:
Located at 2201 C Street, NW. Visitors enter at the 23rd Street Lobby entrance, and will have to give their name and a photo ID. Tours are given every day except Saturday and Sunday.

Supreme Court:
First Street and Maryland Ave., NE. Visitors should go to the Great Hall just up the front steps. Tours are available most days except Saturday and Sunday.

US Capitol:
Capitol Hill. The Capitol is open every day except Sunday. Tours are available from my staff Monday through Friday.

The White House:
1600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW. Tours must be requested through a Congressional office at least 3 to 6 months in advance. Tours are given Tuesday through Saturday mornings.

Visitors may want to see the following sites, however, tickets are not maintained in the Congressman's office.

Arlington National Cemetery:
Open daily October through March from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and April through September from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Amphitheater, the Custis-Lee Mansion and the graves of Presidents John F. Kennedy and William Howard Taft. Changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier every hour on the hour and every half hour during the summer months. Telephone: (703)697-2131.

Botanic Gardens:
Maryland Ave. and First Streets, SW. Open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM during the summer months. Telephone:(202)225-8333.

The Capital Children's Museum:
The whole city block at 3rd and H Street, NE. The museum specializes in hands-on, interactive educational exhibits. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Dumbarton Oaks:
1703 32nd Street, NW. Gardens open daily from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Museum open Tuesday through Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Both are closed on Federal Holidays and December 24, 25, and January 1. Admission: $1.00, senior citizens free on Wednesdays, children 12 and under free. Telephone:(202)338-8278.

FDR Memorial:
Located along the famous Cherry Tree Walk on the Western edge of the Tidal Basin near the National Mall, this is a memorial not only to FDR, but also to the era he represents.

Ford's Theatre and Lincoln's Museum:
10th Street between E and F Street, NW. Building is open every day of the year, except Christmas and during plays, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Telephone:(202)426-6924.

Kennedy Center:
Visitors to the Kennedy Center should enter at the Hall of States entrance. The facility is open every day except for Sunday. Telephone: (202)416-8340.

Jefferson Memorial:
South bank of the Tidal Basin. Open 24-hours daily.

Korean War Veterans Memorial:
The most recent addition to the National Mall. It is dedicated to all those who served during the Korean War (1950-1954.)

Lincoln Memorial:
West Potomac Park at the foot of 23rd Street, NW. Open 24 hours daily. Telephone:(202) 426-6895.

Mount Vernon:

National Aquarium:
14th Street between Constitution Ave. and D Street, NW. Tanks of fish, frogs, alligators, sharks, etc. Open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except Christmas. There is a small admission price. Call for current admission prices. Telephone: (202)482-2825.

National Archives:
8th Street and Constitution Ave., NW. See the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM during the summer months, and Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Telephone:(202)501-5400.

National Building Museum:
Located: 401 F Street, NW, between 4th and 5th streets. Wheelchair access at 4th and G streets. Museum hours: Monday- Saturday 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM, Sunday NOON- 4:00 PM. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Pension Building hours: Monday through Friday(12:30PM), Saturday and Sunday(12:30 PM and 1:30 PM). Telephone:(202)272-2448.

National Cathedral:
Visitors should enter at the Northwest entrance, North Rd., off Wisconsin Ave. The cathedral is open every day for tours except for Sunday. Telephone:(202)537-5700.

National Gallery of Art:
6th Street and Constitution Ave., NW. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Sunday concerts are held at 7:00 PM in the East Garden Court from October through June. Telephone: (202)737-4215.

National Geographic Society:
17th and M Street, NW. Exhibits of famous scientific expeditions. Telephone:(202)857-7588.

National Science Museum:
6th and E Street, NW. Opening April 2004 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Closed Tuesdays. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and military with ID, students with ID, and children ages 5-18. Museum is not recommended for children under age 13. Telephone: (202) 334-1201.

National Zoo:
3000 Connecticut Ave., NW. Grounds open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM from April 15 to October 15, and 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM from October 16 to April 14. Animal buildings are open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the summer months and 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM during the winter months. Telephone:(202)673-4800.

Octagon House:
18th and New York Ave., NW. Architectural exhibits. Served as James Madison's White House following the destruction of the real White House by the British in 1814. The treaty of Ghent was signed here, ending the War of 1812. Open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00AM to 4:00 PM. Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Closed Monday. Old Executive Office Building:
17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave., NW. Tours are available only from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturdays. Reservations must be made at least 3-4 weeks in advance. Visitors must bring their social security number, birth date, and a photo ID. Telephone:(202)395-5895.

Old Post Office Pavilion:
1100 Pennsylvania Ave., NW. Open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. National Parks Service offers a tour of the belltower with a splendid view of the city. Telephone: (202)289-4224.

Sewall-Belmont House:
Museum and gallery displaying memorabilia of the women's rights movement. Tours are given continually. Advanced reservations for groups. Not accessible to wheelchairs. Located: 144 Constitution Ave.,NE. Telephone:(202)546-3989.

Smithsonian Institution:
For information call (202)357-2700. The Institution is open every day from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM except for Christmas day.

*National Portrait Gallery- 8th and F Street, NW. - temporarily closed for renovation.
*Renwick Gallery- Pennsylvania Ave. at17th Street, NW. - temporarily closed for renovation.
*Smithsonian Institution Building (The Castle)- 1000 Jefferson Dr., SW.
*Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles International Airport - extension of the National Air and Space Museum.

Spy Museum:
800 F Street. Open daily at 10:00 AM. Tickets are $13 for adults, $12 for Seniors, Active Duty Military, and Intelligence Community, $10 for children age 5-18, and free for children under 5. Advance tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Treasury Department:
1400 Pennsylvania Ave., Commerce Building. Tours of the Treasury Building take place Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM,10:20 AM, 10:40 AM, and 11:00 AM by reservation only. Telephone: (202)622-0896.

Tudor Place:
A Historic Landmark in the heart of Georgetown. A Federal period mansion designed by William Thornton, the original architect of the Capitol. This building was built for Martha Custis Peter, the granddaughter of Martha Washington. Located: 1644 31st Street, NW at the intersection of Q and 31st Streets, near Wisconsin Ave. The building is not accessible to wheelchairs. Hours: Tuesday through Saturday at 10:00 AM, 11:30 AM,1:00 PM, and 2:30 PM. Tours by appointment only, call (202)965-0400.

US National Arboretum:
444 acres of trees, shrubs, and assorted plants in the northeast section of the District of Columbia. Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday. Guide services for organized groups are available. Please make reservations for groups.

US Naval Observatory:
34th and Massachusetts Ave., NW. Evening hours are available Monday at 8:30 PM, weather permitting, exception federal holidays. Telephone:(202)653-1543.

Vietnam Veterans War Memorial:
Henry Bacon Dr. and Constitution Ave.,NW. Constructed of Black Granite to honor and recognize all Americans who served in the Vietnam War. As a special tribute to those who did not return, the names of 58,000 plus who gave their lives or who remain missing are inscribed in the Memorial's walls. Open 24 hours daily.

Washington Monument:
On the Mall at 15th Street, NW. Open daily April through Labor Day from 8:00 AM to midnight, September through March from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Advance tickets may be obtained for a small fee at http://reservations.nps.gov.

Washington Navy Yard:
9th and M Streets, SE, on the banks of the Anacostia River. The original buildings date back to the 1800's and contain the Navy Memorial Museum and Marine Corps Museum. The Navy Museum is free and open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM weekdays. Docked near the Navy Museum is a real Vietnam-era destroyer, the USS Barry. The USS Barry is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
