Each November, the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) leads the celebration of Military Family Month to demonstrate the nation’s support for and commitment to the families of military personnel. President Signs 2007 Defense Authorization Act The fiscal 2007 National Defense Authorization Act provides more than $530 billion to maintain the military in the shape it must be to win the war on terror. President Bush signed the bill, officially called the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007, during a small ceremony in the Oval Office this morning. Warner is Virginia’s senior senator and the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. The act provides $462.8 billion in budget authority for the department. <<more>>

NMFA Names 2006 Very Important Patriot Award Recipients This year seven service members and nine family members from the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps will receive one of the three awards from NMFA. All recipients receive a cash prize and the VIP Award winners will also win a trip for two to Washington, DC to be honored at an awards dinner with the program sponsors and senior military leaders.
