2007 ILLINOIS WORK ZONE SAFETY CALENDAR CONTEST IS UNDERWAY!

Contest teaches elementary students about the importance of Work Zone Safety

IDOT’s 2nd Annual work zone safety calendar contest allows students to help promote the agency's effort of reminding people the importance of safe driving in work zones. This year’s theme is “Keep Everyone Alive. Drive 45.”

The contest is open to students in three categories:Kindergarten-1st Grade; 2nd-3rd Grade; and 4th-6th Grade. Entries by schools are due to IDOT December 15, 2006.

Governor Rod R. Blagojevich announced today that beginning October 30th, Illinois’ partnership with Amtrak will include an additional train on the Quincy-St. Louis corridor.

Governor Rod R. Blagojevich announced new steps the state is taking to promote the use of E-85 and biodiesel, both fuels are produced from Illinois crops that are better for the environment and will reduce Illinois’ demand for foreign oil.

The task of maintaining our transportation infrastructure falls upon the men and women who make up the Illinois Department of Transportation, and while safety is the underlying theme in everything we do, tragedies do occur.  It is not only a memorial to them, but a reminder to all, that driving is not a right, it is a privilege. With privilege comes responsibility to others.
