Congressman Brown Pays Tribute to Nation's Veterans

Remembrance for Sacrifices and Service in Defense of Freedom

Charleston, SC, Nov 10 -

In observance of Veterans’ Day, Congressman Henry E. Brown, Jr. (R-SC) offered a tribute to the nation’s veterans for their sacrifices and service in defense of our freedom.

“We should all take the opportunity to thank those who have served and those who are presently serving to preserve our freedom and liberty,” Brown said at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Palmetto House, a temporary residence for the homeless operated by the Dorchester Interfaith Outreach Ministries.

“We should be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for victory,” the First District Congressman said as he quoted Woodrow Wilson’s 1919 proclamation in remarks prepared for the Dedication of the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro. He continued Wilson’s words saying, “We remember both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the council of the nation.”

Brown called on all Americans to take the opportunity to acknowledge a veteran or current member of the armed forces and thank them for their service. “Let us remember the sacrifices of those who fought gallantly and those who continue that fight.”
