Gerlach presents Coatesville with federal Weed and Seed money (April 4)
COATESVILLE -- Congressman Jim Gerlach joined U.S. Attorney Patrick Meehan on Monday in presenting Coatesville with $175,000 for the city’s Weed and Seed initiative. As a Weed and Seed program participant, Coatesville receives federal and state dollars to help “weed” out crime from the community as they also recieve dollars to “seed” the area for long-term economic growth and development.
Coatesville was designated a
Pennsylvania Weed and Seed
community in 2001 and, in 2004, it received the federal
distinction as well. Weed and Seed is a U.S. Department
of Justice community-based initiative designed as an
innovative and comprehensive multi-agency approach to
law enforcement, crime prevention, and community revitalization.
