Medicare
On December 8, 2003, the President signed into law, Federal legislation that will for the first time provide seniors in New Mexico with access to a voluntary, comprehensive, affordable prescription drug benefit, while preserving your choice in healthcare coverage.
We must ensure that Medicare has the resources to deliver on its promise of a secure and healthy retirement for today's and tomorrow's seniors. I promise to work with my colleagues in the House, both Democrat and Republican, to strengthen Medicare so that the program can continue to provide innovative care and benefits to our nation's seniors.
I hope you find the information provided in the links below useful in helping to answer some of your questions. In the coming month, the Department of Health and Human Services will be sending a letter to all Medicare beneficiaries detailing this new benefit and your options.
I am proud to have supported this landmark legislation. You can be assured that as your Representative in Congress, I will continue to fight on all fronts for New Mexico's seniors.
