Small Business

U.S. small businesses represent more than 99.7% of all employers, generate 2 out of 3 new jobs annually, pay almost half of the total U.S. payroll; and contribute to over 50% of America’s economic output.

40% of all small businesses are owned by women and 15% of all small businesses are owned by minorities.

Through supporting small business–oriented legislation and connecting small businesses with workforce training and mentorship programs, I remain committed to creating an environment conducive to the growth and vitality of small businesses.

The Small Business Administration provides access to capital through financing loan guaranties, micro loans, substantial investment ventures and providing disaster relief. It also empowers entrepreneurs through education, information, technical assistance and training.

If you are interested in starting a small business, I encourage you to visit the SBA website, www.sba.gov.

If you own a small business and are interested in doing business with Federal government departments and agencies, visit the Federal procurement site for more information.
