Pearce: Al-Zarqawi Death “Strikes a Dramatic Blow for Freedom”
2nd District lawmaker stresses that brutal killer would still be alive to spread terror without the continued presence of American troops in Iraq

Washington, D.C., Jun 8 -

U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce issued the following statement this morning regarding the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi due to a U.S. air strike:

“Today, a brutal killer no longer plots to murder and maim men, women, and children,” Rep. Pearce said. “Today, a vicious terrorist no longer threatens to spread his wicked creed of death, destruction, and tyranny throughout the Middle East and around the world. Today, we have moved one step closer to victory in the War on Terror.

“Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s death strikes a dramatic blow for freedom. Yet, amidst our celebration of this development, we must not forget that it happened due to the continued skill, determination, and heroism of our troops in Iraq.

“As some continue to call for the withdrawal of American troops before the job in Iraq is complete, let us remember that al-Zarqawi would still be alive to spread terror if America had decided to cut and run.”
