Statement from Congressman Steve Pearce on 9/11 Anniversary

Washington, Sep 10, 2004 - As we commemorate the third anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, let us never forget those who died tragically on that early September morning. Whether it was the brave firefighters or police officers who gave their lives to rescue those stuck in the burning towers, or those working at their desks at the Pentagon or the brave airline passengers. They all deserve our continued remembrance.

We will always mourn the death of almost 3,000 innocent civilians who were killed in the attacks. These men and women had done nothing wrong, but were simply going about their daily lives.

Today, our brave men and women in uniform are fighting so that our country does not experience another 9/11 type of attack on our soil.

The recent terrorist attack in Chechnya demonstrates there are still those out there who seek to do us harm and destroy our way of life. The recent attack also reflects the heinous attitude that these terrorists have toward human life, even toward our children, the most innocent in our society.

We must maintain our resolve to win the war on terror in order to keep our children and grandchildren safe.

Let us keep our troops and their families in our thoughts and prayers as they continue to defend our freedoms.”
