Habitat for Humanity building homes in Downingtown (July 10)
DOWNINGTOWN -- Rep. Jim Gerlach aides Habitat for Humanity volunteers in building a new home in Downingtown. Since 1976, Habitat has built and rehabilitated more than 150,000 homes around the world, provding more than 750,000 people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent and affordable shelter. Habitiat is a non-profit organization that sells the new homes to familes at cost, setting up low-interest loans but requiring a substantial investment of "sweat equity," as all families are required to help in the construction of their new home.
