DeFazio Secures Funding For Pioneer Parkway, West Eugene Wetlands Education Center

WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Congressman Peter DeFazio is proud to announce that $250,000 for Lane Transit District (LTD) and $100,000 for West Eugene Wetlands Education Center have been included in the fiscal year 2007 Transportation, Treasury and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill. The LTD also received a $1,351,372 grant from the Federal Transit Administration.

$250,000 for LTD's Pioneer Parkway EmX Corridor The Pioneer Parkway EmX service will connect downtown Springfield with the rapidly developing Gateway/River Bend area to the north. Pioneer Parkway will be the second EmX corridor. Planning for the corridor has proceeded through initial conceptual design, development, and preliminary environmental screening. The funding will be used for engineering, design, and construction of the Pioneer Parkway EmX Corridor.

$100,000 for West Eugene Wetlands Education Center The funding will be used for construction of a Field Science Laboratory as a component of the West Eugene Wetlands Educational Center. The City of Eugene will build the laboratory.

$1,351,372 for LTD awarded by the Federal Transit Administration The grant will go toward the purchase of hybrid electric buses that will be used on the Franklin EmX BRT Corridor.
