Congressional Oversight
The bill provides for 50 new investigators for the Government Accountability Office in order to provide increased oversight over Gulf Coast reconstruction and the Iraq war.
Architect of the Capitol
The budget of the Architect of the Capitol is reduced by 24% percent, or $114 million, from the original request. The bill limits funds on new construction projects in order to allow the Architect to focus on completing existing projects, particularly the Capitol Visitor Center and the West Refrigeration Plant. The bill provides for the establishment of a statutory Inspector General and staff to audit the Architect’s management and operations and to report semiannually.
