Welcome to the Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee (DSOC) website! This website is designed to provide helpful information about our work in the Senate and other useful updates & links.

We salute the new Senate Democratic leadership and the two newest members of our caucus — Senator Barack Obama (IL) and Senator Ken Salazar (CO). Our goal as a committee is to foster dialogue between Senate Democrats and community leaders on vital issues such as retirement security, access to affordable health care, high-quality education, and good paying jobs. In coordination with the members of the Democratic Caucus, we work with community leaders and advocates representing people across the country to ensure their views are represented and to promote Democratic policies.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee is to build support for Democratic policy positions. We do this by:

• Creating dialogue and relationships between the Democratic Caucus and community leaders;
• Communicating and promoting Democratic policy priorities to outside organizations;
• Ensuring coordination and amplification of the Democratic message; and
• Coordinating leadership message events with the House Democratic Caucus.
