BOND SAYS ST. LOUIS TO RECEIVE TOTAL OF $32 MILLION IN HOUSING FUNDS IN 2003

ST. LOUIS, MO - Senator Kit Bond today announced that St. Louis will receive more than $32 million in federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 2003.

"For low-income families, families in crisis, or a person suffering from AIDS, this help will be critical," said Bond, who as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee that funds HUD, has earmarked money for these programs. "I will continue to be an advocate for programs that help all families find affordable and safe housing."

In February 2003 HUD sent St. Louis $9,029,000 for the following programs:

* Community Development Block Grant $7,102,000

* HOME Investment Partnerships $1,337,000

* Emergency Shelter Grants $269,000

* Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS $321,000

On Monday, June 2, 2003 HUD sent St. Louis $23,205,278 in 2003 formula funds, bringing the total for 2003 to $32,234,278.

* Community Development Block Grant $18,264,000

* HOME Investment Partnerships $3,379,278

* Emergency Shelter Grants $685,000

* Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS $877,000
