ST. LOUIS, MO - Senator Kit Bond today announced that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will send $9 million in federal housing funds to the City of St. Louis.

"For low-income families, families in crisis, or a person suffering from AIDS, this help will be critical," said Bond, who as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee that funds HUD, has earmarked money for these programs. "I will continue to be an advocate for programs that help all families find affordable and safe housing."

HUD will send St. Louis $9,029,000, which is a partial allocation of the $23,205,278 St. Louis will receive in fiscal year 2003 formula program funds. The city will receive funds from today's announcement for the following programs:

* Community Development Block Grant $7,102,000

* HOME Investment Partnerships $1,337,000

* Emergency Shelter Grants $269,000

* Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS $321,000

Kit Bond is Missouri’s senior Senator and is now in his third term after having served the state previously during two terms as Governor.
