KANSAS CITY, MO – U.S. Senator Kit Bond today helped launch the Beacon Hill redevelopment plan in Kansas City, MO. Joined by local officials and community leaders, Bond celebrated the culmination of four years of preparatory work for Kansas City’s largest central city residential redevelopment project.

“We celebrate today one more success in our efforts to revitalize the urban core of Kansas City,”said Bond.

The $60 million-plus project is part of the long-term redevelopment plan for Kansas City’s urban core. Partners for the project include Fannie Mae and various City of Kansas City sources and lenders. As the ranking member on the VA-HUD Senate Appropriations Subcommittee, Bond has secured millions in federal funding over the years for the City’s redevelopment initiatives.

The 94-acre development will offer over 300 new building sites for single family homes as well as 100 fully renovated traditional and historic homes in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. Offering close proximity to downtown Kansas City, the Jazz District, health care facilities and commercial and retail venues, the project offers great a opportunity to turn the depressed neighborhood into a thriving community.

“Neighborhood by neighborhood we are revitalizing the urban core of Kansas City,” said Bond. “Through the public-private partnerships that turn projects like Beacon Hill into a reality, we can achieve our vision of safe and thriving residential neighborhoods.”

Senator Kit Bond served Missouri twice as Governor and is now in his third term in the United States Senate.
