Bond Praises Northwest MO Communities; Westboro & Parnell Receive USDA Grants

WASHINGTON - Senator Kit Bond today applauded the Cities of Westboro and Parnell for their efforts to secure federal funds through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development.

The City of Parnell received a $141,400 grant and has been approved for an additional $30,000 loan, while the City of Westboro received a grant for $99,300 and has been approved for an additional $34,500 loan. “I commend Mayor Breit and the whole Parnell team, as well as Mayor McNaughton and the leaders in Westboro who have delivered for their communities,” said Bond, Chairman of the powerful VA/ HUD and Independent Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee stated. “I have been committed to making sure the voices of rural Missouri are heard in Washington - and the example these two cities have showcased inspires me to work even harder.”

Both municipalities will receive funds to help them replace local septic systems with sewers. These local efforts will improve the quality of life for their community while also improving the environment.

Kit Bond served two terms as Missouri Governor and now is serving the state in his third term in the United States Senate.
