REID STATEMENT ON STEM CELL AGREEMENT

Washington, DCSenate Democratic Leader Harry Reid released the following statement today on the Senate’s agreement to take up stem cell legislation:

“Today marks an important step forward in our work to open the door to stem cell research. Millions of Americans hold out the hope that this groundbreaking research will provide them the cure they seek. Now that we have reached an agreement, I hope the Republican leadership will take up this legislation in July so those millions of Americans’ wait can end.”

The Senate will convene at 2:00 p.m. and will be in a period of morning business with Senators permitted to speak for up to 10 minutes each.

The Senate may proceed to consideration of H.R. 5385, the Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act during Monday's session.
