Reid: Menendez's Leadership Will Be a Great Addition to the Senate
Washington, DC – Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid released the following statement today on Congressman Mendez’s appointment to the Senate:
“I welcome Governor-Elect Corzine’s decision to appoint Congressman Robert Menendez. With his decision, Governor-Elect Corzine is helping the U.S. Senate better reflect the diversity of America. Congressman Menendez has been a strong leader as the Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. His leadership skills and experience in public service will make him a great addition to the Senate Democratic Caucus. I look forward to working with him.”

The Senate will convene at 2:00 p.m. and will be in a period of morning business with Senators permitted to speak for up to 10 minutes each.
The Senate may proceed to consideration of H.R. 5385, the Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act during Monday's session.
