Reid, Ensign Statement on DOE/IG Report Released Today

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign released the following statement today:

“Safety at the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump is a conflict of interest for the Department of Energy. DOE is fundamentally lacking any desire to ensure quality work at on the project. This is yet another investigation and more proof that nothing about Yucca Mountain is based on sound science, safety or the integrity of the project.

“It is time to take a realistic approach to storing nuclear waste, which our on-site storage legislation would do.”
