October 24, 2005 Reid Statement on the Passing of Rosa ParksWashington, D.C. – Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid released the following statement on the passing of Rosa Parks.
“Rosa Parks’ single act of bravery served as the catalyst for the civil rights movement. While the nation will miss her, we rejoice in the fact that her legacy will continue to exist for many years to come.”

The Senate will convene at 2:00 p.m. and will be in a period of morning business with Senators permitted to speak for up to 10 minutes each. The Senate may proceed to consideration of H.R. 5385, the Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act during Monday's session.
