Senator Reid Applauds Funding for Higher Education, Job Training

Senator Reid released the following statement on the passage of Senator Ted Kennedy’s amendment that allows funding for higher education and job training:

“Today, the Senate restored key programs in higher education and vocational education. Bipartisan efforts and serious deliberations allowed us to agree that a quality life begins with education. America’s students must be equipped with the tools they need to succeed, and today’s vote signaled that we are headed in the right direction.”

The Senate will convene at 2:00 p.m. and will be in a period of morning business with Senators permitted to speak for up to 10 minutes each.

The Senate may proceed to consideration of H.R. 5385, the Military Quality of Life and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act during Monday's session.
