Reid Wins $2 Million To Boost Nevada Economy

Washington, D.C. – Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) has secured $2 million in the federal budget for projects that will boost the Nevada economy and create new jobs across the state. The funding is part of the Omnibus Appropriations Conference Report.

“This money will help Nevadans learn the skills they need to get jobs, advance their careers, and support their families,” said Reid. “It will provide resources that improve our communities, and promote tourism in downtown Las Vegas. This funding is a great investment in Nevada’s future.”

The funding will be used for job training programs, construction projects, and community improvements including:

$800,000	for the Las Vegas Post Office Museum – to renovate the downtown post office so it can be used for cultural and educational purposes
$250,000	for the Reno Fourth Street Corridor Improvements – for ongoing efforts to renovate the commercial area and improve access to businesses
$250,000	for the Nevada Partners Vocational Training Center – to provide occupational training and job-readiness education for low-income residents in Clark County.
$250,000	for the Urban Chamber of Commerce Job Training Center – to build a job training site for residents of West Las Vegas
$250,000	for the North Las Vegas Library – to build a third library for the growing population of North Las Vegas.
$200,000	for the Town of Pahrump/Nye County Fairgrounds – for construction work on pipeline, well, and highway projects.
