WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Kit Bond and Congressman Kenny Hulshof today announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved almost $3.5 million in federal funds for the Highway 19 Bridge Replacement project.

"Improving our nation's infrastructure is critical to our future economic growth," said Bond, who earlier this year drafted the reauthorization of the six-year highway bill. "These funds for the Highway 19 bridge at Hermann are an investment in the region's economy."

"Replacing the Highway 19 bridge at Hermann would provide a significant economic boost to the entire region," said Hulshof. "I'm pleased that we are able to get additional funding for this important project."

Senator Bond and Congressman Hulshof secured the $3,479,350 for the bridge project in Hermann the fiscal year 2004 Omnibus Appropriations bill. These dollars are part of a $6 million earmark Bond worked to include in the funding bill.
