BOND ANNOUNCES $10 MILLION IN MISSOURI TRANSIT DOLLARS

WASHINGTON, DC Senator Kit Bond today announced that the more than $10 million he earmarked for Missouri transit programs has been allocated by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT). Bond secured the funds for the state in the fiscal year 2004 Omnibus Appropriations bill.
"These dollars are an investment in Missouri's future. A good transportation system, whether its roads, bridges, or buses, is vital to economic development, " said Bond, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. "Public transportation is critical for Missourians who depend on buses to get to work, class, the doctor, or to pick a child up from daycare," said Bond.
The more than $10 million in federal funds the Senator secured for Missouri transit will go to the following localities:
METRO (Bi-State) - $1,010,651 Metro - Buses & vans
Berkeley $126,000 - Replace 3 vans
Brentwood $24,000 - 1 Expansion van
Bridgeton $40,000 1 Replacement vehicle
Cape Girardeau Cty $42,000 - Replace 1 van, $20,000 Office Equipment and Transit Equipment, $18,000 Capital Lease (with Representative Emerson)
Carthage $24,000 Replace 1 van City Utilities $500,000 Replacement buses
Clinton $66,935 Transit Office in new City Hall
Columbia $2,373,827 Improvements to Wabash Station
Dunklin Cty Transit $193,000 Replace vehicles (with Representative Emerson)
Franklin Co $70,000 Replace 2 vans
Houston $100,000 Bus or facility (with Representative Emerson)
Jackson Co. Board $540,000 Replace 12 vans
Jefferson Co. Comm. $526,000 Replace 6 vans & Expand 4 vans

These funds are part of the $84.5 million Bond secured to rebuild Missouri's infrastructure and economy in the Omnibus bill, which was signed into law in January.
Bond served Missouri twice as Governor and now continues his service to Missourians in the United States Senate.
