WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Kit Bond today announced that U.S. Department of Transportation has approved $643,000 in federal dollars for job access transit funds in Springfield, Missouri.
"Transportation programs like Springfield's make it possible for people to have access to jobs," said Bond. "These dollars will make a real difference in helping the city continue to provide this vital service."
Springfield will receive the $643,000 in funds to help defray operating costs associated with job access transportation services currently provided by the city. Springfield will use the funds to continue to provide transit services that assist people getting to and from work, job training, school and childcare facilities.
The grant money comes from the DOT's Federal Transit Administration. Springfield was awarded the competitive grant as party of the fiscal year 2002 Job Access and Reverse Commute funds.
Kit Bond is Missouri’s senior Senator and is now in his third term after having served the state previously during two terms as Governor.
