Wyden, Smith to Host
Federal Contracting Forum
Forum Will Focus on Bringing Federal
Contracts to Oregon Businesses
June 20, 2003
WASHINGTON, DC- Today, Senators Gordon Smith and
Ron Wyden announced they will join the Government Contract Assistance
Program and the Portland Business Alliance on Wednesday, July
2 to host a one-day government contracting forum at the Oregon
Convention Center in Portland.
“This forum is aimed at equipping Oregon
businesses to more effectively compete for government contracts,”
said Smith. “Increasing the number of federal contracts
awarded to our businesses will add jobs and create valuable
economic growth.”
“Federal contracts can bring jobs and opportunity
home to Oregon, and I want to see Oregon companies win their
fair share,” said Wyden. “Garnering government contracts
can be an important part of restoring Oregon’s economy.”
Both senators will offer opening remarks followed
by speakers from various federal agencies who will offer their
comments regarding the growing procurement needs of the federal
government and how Oregon companies can compete for contracts.
The event is open to all who wish to attend and will be an opportunity
to meet and network with federal, state and local government
agencies and their prime contractors.
