Senator Harkin visited Oskaloosa High School. The Oskaloosa School District received a $500,000 Harkin School Construction Grant in 2000 to build an addition and remodel classrooms.
I arrived at Oskaloosa High School and was greeted by eager students, one of whom has plans to go to college at my alma mater, Iowa State. Another young gentleman is torn between college and going to Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport.
After I presented the students with a US Capitol flag, I had a tour of the new addition of the school by Superintendent Dr. Carolyn McGaughey and High School Principal Andy Patee. The Oskaloosa schools are fantastic - the new construction looks great and is a fantastic learning environment. I only had the opportunity to tour the high school today, but was also told that their elementary school is new, and their middle school is in great shape too.
