Whitfield Announces $1.2 Million Head Start Grant for Paducah WASHINGTON, October 20 U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield on Wednesday announced that the Paducah Independent School District will receive a $1,201,448 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Whitfield said the grant will be administered by HHS Head Start program. Head Start is a comprehensive program serving children from birth to age 5 with the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low-income families.

I am a strong supporter of Head Start, and I am pleased that these funds have been awarded to the Paducah Independent School District. This grant will open up new educational opportunities for children in our area and put them on the road to success in school. This is a worthwhile and effective program, and I will continue to support increased funding for Head Start in Congress, said Whitfield.

More information about the Head Start program is available online at: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/hsb/about/index.htm.
