Whitfield Announces $49,000 Federal Grant For Madisonville
Congressman Ed Whitfield announced Friday that FOCUS Ministries, Inc. of Madisonville will receive a $49,991 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
I am pleased FOCUS has been awarded these much needed funds, said Whitfield. This grant will help FOCUS to continue serving women in need throughout the Madisonville area.
FOCUS Ministries is a not-for-profit organization devoted to offer hope, encouragement, education, and assistance to women who are struggling in difficult circumstances, especially dysfunctional marriages, spousal abuse, separation or divorce.
The funds are provided through HHSs Compassion Capital Mini-Grants program. The program is designed to increase the capacity of faith-based and community organizations with a proven record of accomplishment in serving the needs of at-risk and/or low-income individuals and families. The program offers grants to experienced faith-based and community organizations that work collaboratively to meet social service needs in their communities. The program's goal is to help promising organizations bolster their sustainability and ultimately serve more people on a continuing basis.
