The Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave...

I suspect the flag strikes a chord with Americans not only because of what it represents, but because it symbolizes the unity of such a diverse country. Our history is marked by the peaceful immigration and settlement of a people united in the principles of a free society rather than racial or socio-economic uniformity. Throughout war and peace, prosperity and depression, the American flag remains the most revered symbol of our unity.

I am pleased to be able to offer Idahoans an avenue to purchase high-quality American flags at reasonable prices. Two standard flag sizes—3'x5' and 5'×8'—are available in either cotton or nylon. While the flags of both fabrics are durably constructed, nylon flags are recommended for those to be displayed outside. Additional sizes are available and may be special ordered from the manufacturer. Please contact a member of my staff to learn more about non-standard sizes and the extra time needed to order them. All flags available are made in the USA.

The prices listed below are for the standard sizes of flags available and include the cost of shipping each flag using standard postal mail service. If you have any questions, or need a non-standard size, please contact my Washington, DC office at 202-224-2752 or call or stop by my nearest regional office.

Flying your flag over the US Capitol Building

At my request, the Architect of the Capitol will fly an American flag over the Senate side of the United States Capitol Building. In addition to the price of the flag, there is an additional fee of $4.05 to fly and certify each flag.

I am always pleased to assist Idahoans in obtaining such a flag because each is truly very special. Once flown over the U.S. Capitol Building, each high-quality, American flag is shipped in a sturdy and attractive box along with a certificate of authenticity signed by the Architect of the Capitol.

Each certificate indicates that the flag was flown over the Capitol and may be personalized at your request. Capitol Flags make perfect gifts to mark special achievements, such as Eagle Scout Courts of Honor and graduations; or to celebrate important events and milestones, like weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and retirements.

To order a flag, print and complete a Flag Order Form. Be sure to calculate carefully the total cost of the flag, including the flying and certification fee if applicable. A check or money order, made payable to the "Keeper of the Stationery," must accompany the order form.

If there is a specific date on which you would like a flag flown, you may send the order form and payment directly to my Washington, DC office*. However, the quickest way to submit your order is to call or stop by my nearest regional office to have a member of my staff verify that I will have everything needed to submit your request. Once received by my staff, your order form and payment will be sent directly to my Washington office.

Senate Mail Delays

Please take into account that delivery of postal mail to Senate buildings may be delayed up to four weeks due to mail screening and security precautions. Packages sent using other outside services, such as "overnight" deliveries, are typically delayed several days because they must still be screened, and cannot be accepted unless arrangements are made in advance by calling my Washington office at 202/224-2752.
