WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer today received recognition for his sponsorship of a team of students from Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro in the Securities Industry Association's (SIA) "Capitol Hill Challenge," a special competition using SIA's Stock Market Education Program. The Stock Market Game introduces young people to the capital markets and the basics of investing within the framework of an interactive, educational simulation.
Friday, May 28, 2004 Hoyer and Discovery Village Working to Save the Bay
SHADYSIDE, MD - Congressman Steny Hoyer joined the founder of Discovery Village, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and 30 4th grade students from Shadyside Elementary School to dedicate land on the Discovery Village property that will be restored as a natural vegetated shoreline. The natural shoreline includes the creation of a terrapin nesting beach and marsh islands for the numerous wildlife habitats.

Lacey, currently the technical director of the Naval Surface Warfare Center of the Naval Sea Systems Command, and formerly the Executive Director of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head, Maryland, Division, has been appointed as the program executive officer for the National Security Personnel System (NSPS) by Secretary of the Navy Gordon England.

Thursday, May 20, 2004 Pax River Expected to be New Home of Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program
WASHINGTON - The U.S. House of Representatives passed the fiscal year 2005 Defense Authorization bill today that provides $80 million for a new facility to house the Marine Corps' Presidential Helicopter Replacement Program expected to be based at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The bill also directs the U.S. Navy to expedite a land transfer of 5 acres to the State of Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

WASHINGTON - Congressman Steny Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today following passage of the Republicans' Fiscal Year 2005 Budget Conference Report in the House of Representatives last night. The Budget Act requires a budget resolution to provide spending and revenue levels for five years, but the Republican Budget passed by the House provides budget policies for only one year masking the truly negative impact of Republican policies.
