Welcome to the 3rd District of Tennessee's home page - a tribute to the fine people I represent. They are among the most solid and hard-working citizens in the nation. This is a district on the move as we enter the 21st Century. From the exciting Tennessee Aquarium and Southside development in Chattanooga to the challenges of converting "swords to plowshares" at the Oak Ridge complex, the work of the century now dawning is everywhere to see. The emerging "East Tennessee Technology Corridor," which has been my "mission for the future" ever since I took office, will make our area a rival to such well-known "high-tech" centers as Silicon Valley in California and the Research Triangle in North Carolina. The East Tennessee Technology Corridor symbolizes the "can-do," future-oriented spirit of the region.

The 3rd District is also a place of amazing beauty. One of my greatest pleasures – and sources of pride – is to take visitors from places like Washington, D.C., and New York City around the district. I watch and listen to their amazement that so much green, peaceful, uncrowded and beautiful space still exists.

This home page is listed under my name, but I don't think of it as mine at all. It belongs to all the people of the 3rd District. This site has lots of useful information. You can find out how to contact my office, order a flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol and even how to apply to one of our military service academies. The home page also has many other features, such as the columns that I write for newspapers throughout the 3rd District and information about my work in Congress. But I hope that you will see that this home page is about much more than me or the services the Congressional Office can provide you.

I invite all those fortunate enough to live in the 3rd District to make the fullest use of this page and to take a quick tour of your home region as a reminder of how fortunate we are.
