Since I was elected to Congress, it has been my privilege to host several events. Some of them have been once-in-a-lifetime experiences and others went so well we have made them annual occurrences. Below are some of the highlights from the past few years. Click here to read about previous events.

The 50th anniversary of Clinton’s desegregation

On August 27, 1956 the City of Clinton, TN changed history when 12 black students, who amidst violent protest, courageously walked a half-mile from the all black Green McAdoo School to integrate Clinton High School.

A QUILTED TRAIL FOR TENNESSEE

“Something as simple as a quilt trail draws us together,” said Congressman Wamp at a quilt hanging ceremony announcing that Clinch-Powell Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D;) had been selected to receive program grants.

Back From Iraq

2006 Tennessee Valley Corridor Summit

More than 500 local leaders from 5 southeastern states convened for the 2006 Tennessee Valley Corridor Summit held in downtown Chattanooga, May 31st and June 1st. This year’s theme was Advancing America’s Competitiveness.

UN Visit on Iran

Iran’s nuclear advancement is one of the most serious security threats to the United States and the world. Rep. Zach Wamp and Republican Policy Committee Chairman Adam Putman met with United Nations Ambassador John Bolton in New York to discuss a Sense of Congress resolution calling for sanctions against the rogue nation.

Thank you 278th

The 2006 Dogwood Arts Festivals “Celebrate Freedom” Parade was held Saturday to welcome home the nearly 2000 heroes from their recent deployment to IRAQ and honor the 278th Regimental Combat team with their battle streamers.

Oversight of Katrina Rebuilding Progress

“Six months after the most devastating natural disaster in the U.S., the parishes in Louisiana hit by Hurricane Katrina seem to be frozen in time,” Zach said touring the storm-ravaged area as a member of an official delegation headed by House Leadership to inspect the progress of the rebuilding process. “Block-after-block, the carnage is still present with cars left upside down, houses off their foundations and debris virtually everywhere.”
