Pet Protection Legislation Discussed In Chester County (July 6)
Chester Springs -- With the Eagle Farms Kennel off Route 401 as the backdrop, Congressman Jim Gerlach and Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum discussed the legislation each has introduced in Congress to crack-down on the commerical animal breeders that force their animals to live in unsanitary and unhealthy conditions. The Congressman's Pet Animal Welfare Statute (PAWS) would require any commercial breeder, defined as anyone selling more than seven litters of dogs or cats or more than 25 dogs or cats annually directly to the public, to be licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture.
