Velázquez Sends Off Progress High School Student at Launch Party for Antarctica Expedition

NEW YORK - Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-N.Y) is honoring Marc Thomas, a student at Progress High School located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, who she selected to join fellow New York City students for a 14-day expedition to Antarctica.

Marc Thomas will be traveling with 80 students from 7 different countries, and 27 expert staff from the United States, United Kingdom, Argentina, South Africa and Australia as part of the STUDENTS ON ICE Antarctica Expedition. The expedition will provide students from around the world with inspiring educational opportunities and increase their awareness of the earth's global ecosystem.

Congresswoman Velázquez selected Marc based on his outstanding dedication to academic excellence and for his understanding of the environmental issues impacting the communities of Williamsburg and Bushwick.
