Debate on "Akaka Bill" Begins

June 7, 2006

Washington, D.C. - Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI), sponsor of the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act, will begin debate on his bill today.  Debate is expected to take place on the Senate floor at 3:00 p.m. today Eastern Standard Time.  Proponents of the bill will have alternating half-hours beginning at 3:30 p.m.  Debate is expected to last until 6:00 p.m.  Live coverage is available on CSPAN-2.  It is also accessible via a link to the Senate floor found on the home page.
