Dear Friend,

Are you concerned about the rising price of gas? When President Bush came in to office, the average price for a regular gallon of gas was $1.46 but today gas prices in Massachusetts are reaching over $3.00 a gallon. While working families and businesses pay exorbitant prices at the pump, big oil companies are reaping record-breaking profits. Regrettably, the Administration and the Republican Majority in Congress have failed to provide relief to consumers. In Congress, I am working hard to help Americans struggling with spiraling gas prices and I have proposed concrete steps we can take to lower gas prices, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, increase our energy efficiency standards, and invest in new sources of alternative and renewable energy. For more information on my plan, visit my website: www.house.gov/tierney.
