Dear E-Alert Subscriber:

After touring flooded areas and speaking to people in the district, it is clear that families and businesses need significant assistance to recover from damage caused by flooding last month.

As you know, Essex, Middlesex and Suffolk Counties have recently been declared a federal disaster area. This declaration makes residents and business owners eligible for a wide range of programs such as funding for temporary disaster housing assistance, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest loans for individuals and businesses to repair or replace damaged property, grants for serious disaster-related needs and expenses not covered by insurance or other assistance programs and disaster unemployment assistance.

Those who suffered property damage or loss in those counties from the severe storms and flooding can now call 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362) between the hours of 8 A.M. and 6 P.M., seven days a week. Those with speech and hearing impairments should call TTY 1-800-462-7585. You may also register on-line at www.fema.gov.

Sincerely,

John F. Tierney
Member of Congress
