Page Program

Introduction
Pages are young people who are hired to serve as support staff for the U.S. House of Representatives. Pages work as a team and not in individual Members offices. Page duties consist primarily of delivery of correspondence, legislative material and small packages within the Congressional complex. A few Pages are assigned to work in the Members Cloakrooms and on the House floor. A rotation system is

practiced so that every Page has an opportunity to experience the various areas of service.

During the academic year, pages are required to attend the US House of Representatives Page School. The courses offered are those typically offered to high school juniors in a college prep program.

Eligibility
There are 66 page positions in the House of Representatives. The Minority is allotted 12 of the available positions, which are awarded by seniority of the Members on rotating basis. Since this office just recently completed an appointment, it may be a little while for the rotation to come back to us. Therefore, I do not expect to be able to nominate a page for some time. However, I have included some information here for your review. Until my situation changes, I suggest those interested should contact Senators Kennedy and Kerry.

Pages must:

  • be juniors in high school;
  • be sixteen years of age at the start of the Page term; and
  • have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
