I have announced a partnership with the ENERGY STAR
Change a Light, Change the World campaign. As part of this national campaign, I am encouraging individuals to pledge to replace at least one incandescent bulb or fixture at home with one that has earned the government’s ENERGY STAR label as a first step to preserve our energy resources and environment.
A number of local communities have taken this challenge to heart, with municipal officials and citizen volunteers working to promote the campaign. Lynn is teaming up with National Grid to give away compact fluorescent lights in exchange for people taking the pledge. The Town of Marblehead and its Municipal Light Department are hoping to do the same at their farmers market.
If every home in the nation took this small step, we could save enough energy to light seven million homes! High energy costs and concern over global warming are not going away. This campaign promotes an easy step that everyone can take to be part of the solution.
Individuals can take the pledge online and can pledge on behalf of their town and encourage friends to pledge as well.
The campaign runs through November 30th, 2006.
Take the ENERGY STAR Pledge!
