The 2006 exhibit of the Sixth District Congressional High School Art Competition
was held in the Montserrat Gallery in Beverly on April 22. Mrs. Patrice Tierney
presented awards at a reception to the top four participants, who
received awards and accolades for their talent and effort.
"I am incredibly impressed with all of the artwork submitted for the contest.
The judges’ job was very difficult! I am looking forward to seeing Tabitha
Perry’s work, which was awarded the Grand Prize, hanging in the Capitol with the
rest of the country’s best high school artists,” said Congressman Tierney.
The Sixth District Congressional High School Art Competition is a juried art
show open to high school students from all public and private high schools in
the Sixth District. Each year the Congressman's District Office encourages art
teachers throughout the District to submit the work of talented students to the
competition.
The work of the Grand Award Winner will now be sent to Washington, D.C.,
where it will be displayed on Capitol Hill for one year, along with other
district award winners from around the country.
The top finishers in the competition, honorable mentions, and best
submissions from each area school all received congressional citations from
Congressman Tierney and are listed below.
