  • The first woman to serve on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee;
  • Committed to helping Washington State's 700,000 veterans.
Senator Murray has:
  • Helped fund and open the Tahoma National Cemetery
  • Worked to ensure that all veterans can receive military funeral honors
  • Pressed the VA to improve services
  • Fought to recognize America's veterans.
Senator Murray was:
  • Named “Person of the Year” by Washington’s Veterans of Foreign Wars (2004)
  • Named "Legislator of the Year" by the Vietnam Veterans of America (1998)
  • Honored by the American Ex-Prisoners of War and other veterans organizations.
