Washington, D.C. - Representative John E. Sweeney (R-NY) today presented the Glens Falls City School District with the Congressional Hunger Center’s Victory Against Hunger Award for its efforts to expand access and healthy meals to students.

“The Glens Falls City School District is setting a great example for our community and the rest of the country by proactively seeking to ensure that its 2,600 students are getting quality healthy food to eat. Over the years it has made a number of other improvements to ensure that all children have access to healthy lunches, demonstrating a strong longtime commitment to addressing a serious issue facing parents and students today. I want to commend the leadership of the Glens Falls City School District for their fine efforts and congratulate them on this national honor,” said Sweeney.

Congressman Sweeney nominated the school system for the prestigious honor of which only two were awarded in the State of New York and 20 nationwide. The award comes with a $1,000 check for the school system.
