SWEENEY HONORED AGAIN FOR COMMITMENT TO LOCAL BUSINESSES

Washington, D.C. - Representative John E. Sweeney (R-NY) proudly accepted the National Association of Manufacturing (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence today for his continued leadership for Upstate New York manufacturers.

“I am honored to receive this award for my steadfast commitment to Upstate New York manufacturers.  Manufacturers have been critical to the economic foundation that has made America great, and I am working hard to see that Upstate New York manufacturing is thriving,” said Sweeney.

Congressman Sweeney accepted the award at MeadWestVaco, a Sidney company employing 1100 people that he fought for and supported in their successful case with the U.S. International Trade Commission.

"We're lucky to have Congressman Sweeney’s leadership in Congress advocating policies that will allow companies to grow, create jobs and compete internationally. Congressman Sweeney truly understands the local economy and is committed to helping it grow. Congressman Sweeney’s votes in support of a pro-growth, pro-manufacturing agenda are vital to the health of the economy,” said David Williamson, Executive Vice President/General Manager of MeadWestVaco Consumer and Office Products.

Last week the National Federation of Independent Businesses honored Congressman Sweeney with their Small Business Guardian Award for his commitment to small businesses which employ or are owned by more than 400,000 people in the 20th Congressional District.
