Sweeney Honored as Guardian of Small Business

Federation recognizes support of small business legislation

Washington, D.C. - Representative John E. Sweeney (R-NY) today received an award from the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), the nation’s largest small-business advocacy group, as a Guardian of Small Business for his outstanding voting record on behalf of America’s small-business owners in the 109th Congress.

“I am truly honored to receive this award today as more than 400,000 people that I represent in Congress are either employed by or own small businesses. Small businesses are a critical component to the Upstate New York economy and this award is a strong symbol that we share common beliefs and values about pro-growth policies,” said Sweeney.

Congressman Sweeney has now been honored as a ‘Guardian of Small Business’ every term that he has served in the House of Representatives. The award is given to Members of Congress who vote in favor of small business policies more than 70% of the time which Congressman Sweeney has done in the 109th Congress.

“Small businesses need our support to create a healthy economic environment to grow and flourish. I was very pleased with yesterday’s news that we have once again slashed the federal budget deficit. Our pro-growth economic plans and tax cuts are fueling a strong economy that’s creating jobs and spurring investment and I am going to continue my strong commitment to small businesses,” said Sweeney.
