Ron Lends a Helping Hand at a Habitat For Humanity Homebuilding Site in Southern Oregon

May 2004

Central Point , Ore. -- In May, Ron visited a Habitat for Humanity homebuilding site in Central Point and lent a helping hand in the construction effort. Ron is part of a program called The Houses the Senate Built which has helped him meet Habitat for Humanity volunteers and families around Oregon. The Houses the Senate Built partners the U.S. Senate with Habitat for Humanity in strengthening neighborhoods and communities by raising awareness, encouraging volunteerism and building simple, affordable homes with low-income families accross the country.

"Habitat's record is a testament to the power of individuals when they come together in support of a cause greater than themselves."
--Sen. Ron Wyden

Habitat builds simple, quality homes in partnership with families in need. In 2003, 55 Habitat for Humanity homes were built by 37 Oregon affiliates with families in need of simple, decent, affordable homes. Individuals or families earn their homes by putting in a substantial amount of hours or “sweat equity.”
