Portland, Ore. -- Ron presents an overdue Bronze Star and other medals to John Cannon, a World War II veteran, for his heroic actions in the Philippines in 1945. Cannon is a veteran of several campaigns in the Pacific Theater of Operations, having served a total of 26 years in active and reserve duty for the Army. In addition to the Bronze Star, Cannon also received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, a Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 service stars, and other medals he did not receive upon his discharge.
