Ron, DeFazio Tour New Community Health Care Center
in Lane County, Honor Community Partners

August 2004

Springfield, Ore. -- Ron, U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio and community leaders took a tour of the new Riverstone Community Health Center in Lane County on Friday, August 20. Following the tour, Ron and DeFazio spoke about the importance of access to affordable health care and attended an awards ceremony to honor community partners who have worked to ensure the success of community health centers.

The Riverstone Clinic is tailored to serve low-income residents, Latinos needing culturally and linguistically appropriate health care, homeless and at-risk families including children and adolescents, Medicare/Medicaid recipients who cannot access local health care and uninsured/underinsured patients. Clinic fees are based on a sliding scale according to federal poverty income guidelines. Most patients will pay a minimum fee, but Clinic policy clearly states that no one will be denied services based on inability to pay.

“Community health centers are often the only way for folks without adequate health insurance to get the health care they need for themselves and their families.”
-- U.S. Senator Ron Wyden
